‘When we dare, we can!’ writes Julie Abraham, a master quarry worker at Pierre Bleue Belge in Soignies.
On this International Women’s Day, we are proud to share a great article written by Lies Paelinck that was published one year ago in Polycaro, the professional magazine for the natural stone and ceramic tile sector, as well as the quartz composite sector.
‘Julie Abraham, who is in her early 40s, represents the fifth generation to manage the Les Carrières de la Pierre Bleue Belge (CPBB) family business, which has been operating the Gauthier-Wincqz quarry in Soignies since 1875. It has subsequently added the Clypot quarry in Neufvilles in 2000 and the Tellier des Prés quarry near Ecaussines in 2006.
After taking over from her father in 2014, she is managing the workforce of approximately 200 people who make CPBB one of the leaders in extracting, splitting and shaping blue stone in Europe.’
